6.1 Gathering Articles for the Literature Review

Beverley Glass

Introduction

Completing a literature review is a process that you will be doing across two research subjects in year 2 Pharmacy.

  • In this first research subject you will be developing a literature review framework, which will involve completing the first three steps below.

You will now be provided with your topic for the literature review.  Consider the following steps (steps 2 and 3 above) as you undertake this learning activity:

  • searching the literature to gather your articles
  • keep note of the databases you use
  • collate the search terms and any exclusion criteria you use as this will be useful for those of you undertaking a Narrative Review.

As you work through this process of developing a literature review framework, consider these steps as your guide:

  • Gather your articles for your literature review (using the searching the literature information shared by your JCU liaison librarian – Mr Stephen Anderson)
  • Read the articles
  • Investigate how to write a literature review
  • Create headings for your literature
  • Summarise the articles –  this begins the creation of your literature review framework.
