6.1 Gathering Articles for the Literature Review
Beverley Glass
Introduction
Completing a literature review is a process that you will be doing across two research subjects in year 2 Pharmacy.
- In this first research subject you will be developing a literature review framework, which will involve completing the first three steps below.
You will now be provided with your topic for the literature review. Consider the following steps (steps 2 and 3 above) as you undertake this learning activity:
- searching the literature to gather your articles
- keep note of the databases you use
- collate the search terms and any exclusion criteria you use as this will be useful for those of you undertaking a Narrative Review.
As you work through this process of developing a literature review framework, consider these steps as your guide:
- Gather your articles for your literature review (using the searching the literature information shared by your JCU liaison librarian – Mr Stephen Anderson)
- Read the articles
- Investigate how to write a literature review
- Create headings for your literature
- Summarise the articles – this begins the creation of your literature review framework.
